AD&D Character Class:  Holy Order of the Stars
These are the only clerics who have any power in the world of Krynn; under the MyWorld rules, there are no adventures in Krynn, and these clerics are displaced in other parts of the world, no better or worse than any other cleric.

To become a cleric in the Holy Order of the Stars, a character must be accepted by the god whom he wishes to serve; another cleric of that god may help the character to win such acceptance.  This mentor will give the new cleric a Medallion of Faith.  Player characters beginning in this class have their medallion and the story of how they got it.

Each god expects particular conduct from his clerics, and rewards or punishes accordingly.  The specifics of the gods are discussed when the player must select a deity.  Otherwise, they divide into the gods of good, the gods of neutrality, and the gods of evil.  (Neutrality in Krynn tends toward chaos.)

These clerics have a minimum wisdom of nine; a wisdom of fifteen or more entitles the character to a 10% experience point bonus.  Note that a wisdom of 17 is necessary to use level 6 spells, and a wisdom of 18 is necessary to use level 7 spells.  Wisdom spell bonuses also apply.  Clerics of good and clerics of evil begin with one first level spell (plus bonuses), while clerics of neutrality begin with two.  At the highest level, good clerics have the most spells, evil clerics the fewest.

These clerics get eight-sided hit dice.  Good clerics begin with two, and neutral and evil clerics begin with one.  However, all get a maximum of nine dice, with one additional hit point per level thereafter.  Good clerics typically have more hit points, because more of them advance higher, and the highest has one extra hit point added to the nine dice at level 18 (the highest level).

Among the clerics of good, only one for each god may reach level 15, all others being stopped at level fourteen.  Only the highest cleric of Paladine can reach level 18, the highest possible level, the other gods' highest clerics being limited to level 17.  Among the clerics of neutrality, only one for each god can reach level 14, and only the best cleric of Gilean can reach level 16; level 18 is the highest possible level.  Among the clerics of evil, level 12 can be obtained by only one cleric of each deity, and level 14 is obtainable only by the highest cleric of Takhisis.  This one evil cleric may reach as high as level 18.  Titles and experience point tracks are also dependent upon the alignment of the cleric and god.

Holy Orders of the Stars do not build fortresses like occidental clerics.

Collection of such pages as the much-praised Alignment Quiz, What is an RPG? (excerpted from Multiverser), the highly valued Confessions of a Dungeons & Dragons™ Addict, along with special rules and player aids in both written and computer formats, this site was highly praised by RAWS, linked by Gary Gygax, and is worth a look even if you don't like what you found here.

The best new role playing game....

The Multiverser Information Center
The complexity of creating a D&D character always reminds me of how much simpler it is to play
Multiverser®, the game which incorporates all other games, all other worlds, everything imaginable, with nothing else to buy.

A consideration of time travel....

Temporal Anomalies in Popular Movies
There are enough time travel films out there now that most of the things which could go wrong in time have been shown on the silver screen.  This page applies a new conception of how time works (discussed in the
Multiverser® game system to help referees sort out game scenarios in which player characters travel in time) to unraveling the most popular of such movies.  An Event Horizon Hot Spot and Sci Fi Weekly Site of the Week which has won the author national recognition as an authority on time travel in fiction.
