AD&D Character Race:  Korobokuru
The Korobokuru are very like dwarfs, but are distinct in many ways.  They are an oriental race, able to be Yakuza, Wu Jen, Bushi, Barbarians, or Samurai; only as Bushi are they unlimited in advancement, but the majority are Barbarians.  There are no noble Korobokuru families, so a Korobokuru Samurai must be sponsored by a human household.  Although as a race they tend toward chaos and are rarely lawful, there is no restriction on their alignment.

About four feet in height, these creatures have proportionately long arms and legs (unlike the stockier dwarfs), and are frequently bow-legged.  They have a wild unkempt look, with sparse beards and hairy limbs.

They are resistant to magic and to poison, gaining +1 on saves in those areas (rods, wands, staves, spells, and poison) for each four and a half points of constitution--+1 at 5, +2 at 9, +3 at 14, +4 at 18.  They have double (12") infravision.  They also have extensive knowledge of normal plants and animals, able to identify them 66% of the time.  They are +1 to hit against bakemono, goblins, goblin rats, and hobgoblins, and create a -4 penalty on attacks against them by giants, oni, ogres, ogre magi, and titans due to size.  They cannot use the go-daichi, two-handed sword, any polearm other than the naginata, or any bow other than the horsebow.  Most favor spears, bows, blowguns, and short swords.

They speak the trade language (the oriental version of common) and the language of their own tribe, spirit folk, and hengeyokai.  They are unable to learn additional languages, including their alignment language, except as mandated by their class (such as the Wu Jen's ability to understand Oni and Tengu).

Ability scores are adjusted by +1 to Strength and Constitution, and -2 to Intelligence.  These scores may not be lower than 8 (strength), 12 (Constitution), or 3 (Intelligence) after the adjustment.

Humans regard these as inferior, primitive, and rude--as well as comical.  They are seldom perceived as equals to the other races.

The best new role playing game....

The Multiverser Information Center
The complexity of creating a D&D character always reminds me of how much simpler it is to play
Multiverser®, the game which incorporates all other games, all other worlds, everything imaginable, with nothing else to buy.

A consideration of time travel....

Temporal Anomalies in Popular Movies
There are enough time travel films out there now that most of the things which could go wrong in time have been shown on the silver screen.  This page applies a new conception of how time works (discussed in the
Multiverser® game system to help referees sort out game scenarios in which player characters travel in time) to unraveling the most popular of such movies.  An Event Horizon Hot Spot and Sci Fi Weekly Site of the Week which has won the author national recognition as an authority on time travel in fiction.
