Oriental Barbarian Weapon Proficiencies
Equipping the Oriental Barbarian is not easy.  The character comes not merely from the "other culture" of the orient, but is by definition an outsider of that other culture.  Decisions regarding what armor and weapons are available to him are very solidly in the hands of the individual referee.  However, there are a few guidelines given.

First, as a fighter, the oriental barbarian can learn and use any kind of weapon.  Those normally associated with the ninja will dishonor the oriental barbarian, and so will be avoided.  Of course, when the character is starting, he is limited to those weapons available in the orient--the same weapons as are available to the bushi.

Second, the oriental barbarians are divided into three distinct tribal types--steppeland, forest, and jungle.  Each of these tribes has its own primary selection of weapons as well as non-weapon proficiencies.

Certain items of armor are available to oriental barbarians.  These are Small Helmet, Hide Armor, Leather Armor, Padded Armor, Leather Scale, and Buckler.  Other types of oriental armor may be available at the discretion of the referee.

Steppeland barbarians prefer light lance, daikyu, any sword, or hand ax; non-weapon proficiencies include horsemanship, long-distance signaling, outdoor craft, tracking, animal handling, weaponsmith, armorer, bowyer, running, dancing, singing, weaving, tanning, sound imitation, survival, and chanting.

Forest barbarians fight with spear, short bow, hand ax, harpoon, and any sword; they also study small water craft, fishing, tracking, survival, animal handling, weaponsmithing, pottery, bowyer, sound imitation, snare building, weaving, tanning, carpentry, agriculture, singing, chanting, dancing, and rhetoric.

Jungle barbarians use blowgun, spear, any sword, hand ax, and dagger; they also learn small water craft, fishing, swimming, survival, animal handling, carpentry, weaponsmith, armorer, sound imitation, snare building, pottery, tracking, chanting, dancing, music, and sailing craft.

The best new role playing game....

The Multiverser Information Center
The complexity of creating a D&D character always reminds me of how much simpler it is to play

A consideration of time travel....

Temporal Anomalies in Popular Movies
There are enough time travel films out there now that most of the things which could go wrong in time have been shown on the silver screen.  This page applies a new conception of how time works (discussed in the
Multiverser® game system to help referees sort out game scenarios in which player characters travel in time) to unraveling the most popular of such movies.  An Event Horizon Hot Spot and Sci Fi Weekly Site of the Week which has won the author national recognition as an authority on time travel in fiction.
