It is also necessary for oriental characters to have access to the martial arts information. It is hoped that this web site will contain everything needed to create the level one character, but the martial arts styles lists are constantly expanding (indeed, characters in several classes have the prerogative to create a new style to be his style if he so desires), and cannot be contained here. A subsection of this web site has been dedicated to explaining the use of martial arts and offering a variety of pre-generated styles for use within AD&D, Multiverser, and other RPG's; the DM is encouraged to examine these at his leisure, and download or print whatever he finds useful. He should also refer to the martial arts rules for guidance on those skills.
Consistent with the implication of the rules, it is the MyWorld rule that each proficiency list is limited by the social class roll of the character. Artisan proficiencies are available to those of at least Middle Class, but not above 6th Rank. Common proficiencies are available to all characters. Court proficiencies are only available to those of at least 10th Rank. As specified in the Oriental Adventures™ rules, Barbarian proficiencies are only available to Oriental Barbarians. None of this will prevent a character from gaining a proficiency specifically required by or offered to his class. Once the character is introduced into the game, he may learn proficiencies otherwise blocked, through character contacts with others of the appropriate class or background. Monk characters ignore class questions, and can learn skills from all but the Barbarian list within their own monasteries.
If a proficiency requires more than one slot, the number of slots required is indicated after the listing.
