Even more peculiar, the gems he had left on deposit with me are all missing.  I never opened the lock boxes; and James never asked me for the key.  I've asked around, and no one knows anything, so I suppose Darius took it with him, whether to Tempest or to Poseidon, although how he managed it will remain a mystery to me forever.  There are some as say the boy dabbled in the black arts, that he was brought here by magic, and swept away by the same.  I'm a sane man, and put no truck in such things; but at the moment I have no better explanation.
