Dude Evil Dead 2 is not a remake, bruce cambell even told me himself , I'll explain it if you like, basicly the begining of Evil Dead 2 is a slightly different remake of The Evil Dead but only until the scene where he gets thrown into the forest after that it's a sequel. Both movies are good but Evil Dead 2 is the best of all 3 it's hillarious, you've got to see these movies before formulating any ideas. I don't think they thought too deeply about the time traveling aspects there just fun movies, go out and rent them or just Evil Dead 2, OK? You;ll love them. It does explain the time travel element a little in Evil Dead 2, the girl said a spell to send the evil back in a rift thru time. the end of Evil Dead 2 is slightly different than Army of Darkness but they do connect, Evil Dead 2 is where he cuts his hand off and puts on the chainsaw.

Nathan--
Thanks for your note on my Army of Darkness page. I am surprised to hear that Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are different movies; several people who had seen both told me they were not significantly different. I regret that neither film is available at rental outlets locally--apparently not returned by previous renters.
I recognized immediately that the time travel aspect of the movie was not critical to it. It's really not about time travel--just a plot device to move to a medieval setting and allow Ash to use a few (sometimes dubious) technological tricks against the monsters. Several of my readers had asked me to consider Army of Darkness, and when it appeared on cable I took the opportunity to tape it and review it carefully; however, it tends to gloss over many of the time travel details which make it possible to create accurate reconstructions. (For an example of such reconstruction, let me recommend the material on the Terminator films, and the connected addendum.
Again, thank you for your comments.
